South Korea to the Himalaya — FAQs

Do Korean travellers need a visa for India?
South Korean citizens are eligible for the Indian e-Tourist Visa and visa-on-arrival at Delhi. Apply at indianvisaonline.gov.in — the e-Tourist Visa is usually issued in 3–5 business days; carry a printout.
How long is the flight from South Korea to Delhi?
Seoul (ICN): nonstop, about 8.5 h with Korean Air / Air India. All our trips start from hubs reached from Delhi by overnight bus, a short domestic flight or the Chandigarh / Dehradun / Leh airports.
How much does a Himalayan trek cost for Korean travellers?
Multi-day treks start at ₹4,499 (≈ ₩72,565) per person including guides, camping, meals and permits; 7-day Ladakh and Spiti tours are ₹18,000–35,000 (≈ ₩290,325–₩564,515). Prices are the same for Indian and foreign guests. Payment is in INR by international card (Visa / Mastercard / Amex) through Razorpay.
Do I need permits as a foreign national?
Ladakh's Nubra, Pangong and Tso Moriri need a Protected Area Permit (we arrange it; send a passport scan 2 weeks ahead). Spiti via the Kinnaur road needs an Inner Line Permit for foreigners (arranged on arrival in Rekong Peo); via Manali no permit is needed. Peaks above 6,000 m need IMF registration and, for expedition peaks, an X (mountaineering) visa.
What about altitude sickness?
Every itinerary above 3,000 m is built around acclimatisation (Leh: 36 h rest on arrival; treks: gradual gain, climb-high-sleep-low). Trek leaders carry oximeters, oxygen and a first-aid kit, and are trained in AMS protocols. Arrive one day early if you can, hydrate, and talk to your doctor about Diamox.
Is travel insurance required?
Yes — a policy covering trekking to the trip's maximum altitude and helicopter evacuation. World Nomads, Global Rescue and most home-country insurers offer this; we ask for the policy number before departure.
What is the best time for Korean travellers?
Chuseok lands in the clearest trekking weeks of the Himachal autumn; summer suits Ladakh.
